Adult Art Classes
Studio art classes include lively discussion sessions in the galleries and studio time to complete drawing and painting projects. Gallery classes emphasize drawing in LACMA’s permanent collection galleries as a way to learn about composition, color, technique and personal expression. Adults may also participate in intergenerational classes held for students ages 5 and up.
Kids Art Classes
Children’s art classes emphasise creative problem-solving and experimentation and instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media. Classes also include gallery activities and a chance to look at original works of art from the museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. Unless otherwise specified, the minimum age requirement for children’s classes is 6 years old.
Family Art Classes
Family activities are perfect for children, parents, and grandparents; learn about and make art together. Classes for children ages 3 1/2 to 5 and their family members include storytelling, observation activities, and art-making. Intergenerational classes provide an opportunity for students age 5 and up to learn about art and make art at the museum together.
Teen Art Classes
Classes are designed just for teens and present a wide variety of ways to approach art. Students focus on a variety of techniques and develop their own personal style. Unless otherwise specified, the age requirement for teen classes is ages 13 through 17.
